Manuel Perrin was born in 1986 in the French part of Switzerland. He graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design (HEAD) of Geneva. During his studies, he discovered screen printing, a technique he practised more in depth in Berlin in his art workshop “Drucksalon” located at 73 Brunnenstraße. The project “Saturne et les basketteurs contemporains” is the result of a year-long process of work. The artist wanted to take another look at the classicalcodes used to create a book and try out the multiple possibilities offered by screen printing. This work contains 24 double-sided serigraphs, which are all bursting with bright colors and place in separate chapters according to their tone. Presented in a sober case, readers look through the images as in a traditional book despite the lack of binding. This hybrid work offers an art object which surprises and explores the question of a book as a piece of art.
